It is co-hosted by Mayor Mark Begich, Senator Bill Wielechowski, Representative Max Gruenberg and Assembly Member Allan Tesche. Construction on the new 10,000 square-foot library and community room will begin later this winter. The new Library will go back into the building at the corner of Bragaw and Mountain View Drive. The building will be renovated inside and out and a new community room will be added. You can also donate online by clicking on the “How You Can Help” button on this site.

Enjoy refreshments, entertainment and help build the library collection. Buy books and media items at subsidized rates and be first to check them out. Or make a $5 donation and a title suggestion to be entered in a prize drawing. The WishList sale continues through Oct. 31, at the Friends of the Library Gift Shop next to the circulation desk on Level 2 at the Loussac Library.

Haigh is the featured speaker at the Friends annual meeting Wednesday, Oct. 10, 6-8pm, in the Ann Stevens Room, Loussac, level 3.  An historian from Fairbanks, Haigh wrote Gold Rush Women, Gold Rush Dogs, and Kin Con: The Story of Soapy Smith.  At 7pm, Haigh will discuss her latest book, Searching for Fannie Quigley, following the short FOL business meeting which includes awards for supportive sponsors and volunteers with 250 hours.
